Geo Controller extends WooCommerce Currency Options with automatic geolocation-based price conversion and additional controls for displaying prices to international customers.
Depending on your configuration, visitors can see prices in their geographically associated currency, the original store currency, or both.
To configure these features, navigate to WooCommerce → Settings → General → Currency options.
How Currency Conversion Works
Geo Controller retrieves geographic information associated with the visitor’s IP address and determines an available currency and conversion rate.
When currency conversion is enabled, Geo Controller uses this information to modify eligible WooCommerce price output according to your selected display mode.
For example, a WooCommerce store using USD as its base currency may display an estimated EUR price to visitors from Germany or a ZAR price to visitors from South Africa.
The conversion is based on the available exchange rate and the store’s configured base currency.
Available Currency Settings
Currency Conversion Options
This setting determines how original and converted prices are displayed.
- Show original price only – Display prices using the original WooCommerce store currency without Geo Controller conversion formatting.
- Show converted price only – Display the converted price using the visitor’s detected currency, when conversion data is available.
- Show original and converted price – Display the original price first, followed by the converted price.
- Show converted and original price – Display the converted price first, followed by the original price.
If Geo Controller cannot determine a usable currency conversion, the original WooCommerce price display is retained.
Convert to Round Price
Enable this option to round prices processed by Geo Controller’s price-formatting system to whole numbers.
Rounding affects the displayed price formatting. It does not update the original product prices stored in WooCommerce.
Round Price Option
Select how rounding should be performed:
- Round up – Always round upward to the next whole number.
- Round nearest – Round to the nearest whole number.
- Round down – Always round downward to the previous whole number.
For example, a calculated amount of 125.40 would be displayed as:
- 126 with Round up.
- 125 with Round nearest.
- 125 with Round down.
Note: Rounding applies to eligible price output processed by Geo Controller. Depending on the selected conversion mode, this can affect the formatting of original and converted prices.
Currency Converter Adjust
This setting allows you to increase the conversion rate by a configurable percentage.
Enter a value between 0 and 100.
For example, if the original conversion rate is 0.90 and you configure a 5% adjustment, the adjusted rate becomes 0.945.
This adjustment is applied to the conversion rate used for price display. It does not modify the original product price in the WooCommerce database.
Do Not Convert in wp-admin
Enable this option to prevent Geo Controller’s price conversion formatting from running inside the WordPress administration area.
When disabled, eligible price output within wp-admin may also use the configured conversion display.
For most stores, keeping original prices visible to administrators is recommended.
Currency Symbols and Number Formatting
WooCommerce provides native formatting settings that control how prices appear, including:
- Currency position.
- Thousand separator.
- Decimal separator.
- Number of decimal places.
Geo Controller uses the relevant WooCommerce price-formatting settings when presenting converted values.
These formatting controls belong to WooCommerce itself and are not separate Geo Controller-specific settings.
Price Display vs. Actual Payment Currency
Important: Geo Controller’s built-in currency conversion is primarily a price display feature.
Displaying a converted price does not automatically change the currency used for checkout, the currency recorded in WooCommerce orders, or the currency charged by your payment gateway.
For example, a product originally priced at USD 100 may display an estimated equivalent in EUR to a visitor from Germany. However, unless your store uses a compatible multi-currency checkout solution, the transaction may still be processed in USD.

WooCommerce Cart and Checkout Compatibility
Geo Controller’s built-in conversion system uses WooCommerce’s PHP price-formatting hooks.
Some interfaces, particularly Cart and Checkout Blocks or components that render prices through JavaScript and the WooCommerce Store API, may not display converted amounts in the same way as classic WooCommerce templates.
Before enabling currency conversion on a live store, verify product pages, cart totals, checkout totals, order confirmation pages, and the currency actually charged by your payment gateway.
